Journey to Him
Journey to Him
Life is a journey.
Let’s do it together.
The Vision
One of the themes that runs throughout the Bible is that of a pilgrimage or journey. There are many different starting points, but the goal is the same for all: every child of God is destined for heaven. However, the journey is not only about arriving; it is also about becoming. We are ever being changed into the likeness of Christ; we are being pruned for greater fruitfulness. We believe that God intends for us to make this journey not as individuals, but family members, spurring one another on to run the race with endurance.

Psalm 1:1 gives a good view of the descent into Lot’s Folly: first moving in the wrong direction, then being at the wrong place, then settling into the wrong situation. Notice also the progression from being wicked (or ungodly in the KJV; a person who is living without God ) to being a sinner (someone who has missed what they’re supposed to be aiming for and has become an enemy to God by their actions) to being a scoffer (who openly rebels against God and what He wants).
By contrast, Psalm 1 describes the blessed way of life that God intends for us. The way to avoid Lot’s folly and the loss that followed? Make God the priority of our lives and find our satisfaction in living lives and becoming people who please Him. This has two benefits: God will personally invest in us and take care of us, and we will avoid the utter ruin that awaits those who life on their own terms.
One final thought: In Lot’s life, and here in Psalm 1, the journey in either direction begins with a choice - live according to what I want, or what God wants for me. We get to choose either way every day we’re on this earth, but there is a day when our choice is final, and there’s no turning back. Choose wisely.
